PART 1:
1. An overview of GoTech company (0.5 marks)
Gotech is a digital and technical company based in Saudi Arabia that went
regional. With a well-formed organizational structure that starts with a CEO on the
top of the pyramid and goes down with three managers and 30 employees, Gotech
workflow seems smooth, coherent and logical. Regular SWOT analysis reports are
required for all companies to sustain themselves in the marketplace. Gotech is one of
those companies that focused essentially on the challenges/threats, which might stop
the company from sustainability if not treated effectively. The CEO holds the core
responsibility to keep the company running during all the current and future
challenges. Strike decisions ranging from technological and digitalization movement
should be implemented to re-shape Gotech vision, mission and goal.
2. Description of the type of management that GoTech follows. (1 mark)
Gotech fits mostly into the democratic consultative management style because the
CEO is seeking the help of consultants to take his final decisions. Abdullah was
required to settle a road map to make changes in the organization. The employees’
opinions will be taken into consideration in the process to reach the desired goals.
Besides, knowing that the CEO has created a structure of 3 managers handling three
different regions and 30 employees working under their supervision, Abdulah is
providing those managers with the freedom to come up with thoughts and ideas to fit
his mission and goal. Abdulah’s vision doesn’t only focus on the company itself but
the employees and their growth. Many benefits surround this type of management,
such as an increased trust between the CEO. The staff will learn from the raised ideas
and experiences which can lead to overall management growth. Besides, the
employees develop problem-solving skills that boost the company performance.
3. Description of the challenges with that type of management. (1 mark)
•
Communication challenges
•
Cultural and political challenges
7
Since GoTech is currently operating in three regions globally and relying on a consultative
management approach, the company will face communication, cultural and political
challenges. Communication challenges will arise because the CEO is not available in three
different locations at the same time. Besides, the only method to communicate with the two
other countries is through technological communication tools and applications ranging from
video and regular calls to texting and emails. Also, the employees are reporting directly to
three managers, which in their turn are reaching out to the CEO. Therefore, the CEO will
receive most of his consultive opinions and ideas from the managers disregarding the junior
employees. Cultural and political challenges can arise because the employees come from
different backgrounds, cultures, regions and mentalities. What is considered restricted in
Saudi Arabia might be normal in Egypt and Italy. Therefore, a consultive approach can be
accepted in a country but disregarded in another. The CEO must be an open thinker who
accepts all ideas but shortlist his decisions to the most relevant ones.
